Preston Cookery School - In the kitchen

What could be better than sampling the burst of flavours from our local producers? Lancashire is one of the best regions producing the finest quality produce in the UK, and on this course we will be showcasing our fantastic local ingredients, including Bowland Brewery Ales!


Many top chefs will at some stage work in the restaurants and eateries of France to perfect their craft. Let us give you a unique insight into the style of cooking that has been a success world over for centuries. We’ll show you how to create home-style dishes such as beef bourguignon, pate and terrines.


Everyone loves Curry, so learn how to use spices to create a fantastic fusion of flavour and a tantalising taste of the exotic in your own home. You’ll make a curry paste, a marinade and your own blend of garam masala – you’ll then use them to cook your dishes. More info...


Mediterranean cuisine is some of the best in the world, combining a festival of flavours to create inspiring dishes. This course will show you how to cook the Mediterranean way, from light bites such as Tapas and Mezze, to more substantial meals such as Paella.

Game is one of the finest foods and can be used in many recipes but many people don’t know where to start. Let our expert chefs show introduce you to the world of game where we’ll show you how to make the most of delicious meats such as rabbit, pheasant, partridge, grouse and venison.


Due to customer demand, our chefs have devised this course as an introduction to cookery skills in preparation for our specialist master classes. Our expert chefs will school you in the art of working with knives and show you how to make basic cooking essentials such as stocks and soups, simple cakes and pastries.

Speciality Courses


The art of traditional bread making is at the heart of good cookery. Using the simplest of ingredients you will learn the fermentation process and the different methods of bread making. All of our bread is made by hand, so it can be easily replicated at home.

Frying

Pastry is one of the most versatile foods used in cooking, from pies and pasties to tarts and strudel. This course, taught by our gold medal winning pastry chef will enable you to create perfect pastry dishes from puff to filo.


Butchery is a fine art, but we can all utilise elements of it to ensure we always use the best cuts of meat. Whether considering the best meat for pies and stews or how to prepare meat and poultry for the BBQ, this is the course for you. With plenty of hands on experience, you’ll also learn how to bone and roll a variety of meats ready for cooking. More info...
